Maxwell scores shootout winner as Silvertips edge Winter Hawks @NHLdotcom

PORTLAND, Ore. - Tyler Maxwell scored the only goal in the shootout to help the Everett Silvertips down the Portland Winter Hawks 5-4 in Western Hockey League action Sunday.

Kellan Tochkin had a power play goal and two assists to lead the Silvertips.

Everett (20-17-5) also had a power play goal from Tyler Maxwell, with Dan Iwanski and Zack Dailey scoring at even strength.

Travis Bobbee, Radim Valchar, Chris Francis, all on the power play, and Riley Boychuk replied for Portland (12-27-1-2).

Silvertips goalie Kent Simpson made 32 saves for the win, while Portland's Kurtis Mucha stopped 38 shots.

Portland was 3-7 on the power play while Everett went 2-7.
