Maxwell makes 40 saves in debut as the Majors beat the Battalion 3-2 in shootout

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Brandon Maxwell made an immediate impact in his debut with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors on Friday night.

The overage netminder, who was acquired in a trade with the Sarnia Sting on Friday afternoon, made 40 saves to lead his new team to a 3-2 shoot-out victory over the visiting Brampton Battalion in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jordan Mayer scored the shoot-out winner for Mississauga (18-15-5) while Jamie Wise and Sergey Kuptsov scored in regulation.

Barclay Goodrow scored both goals for Brampton (22-10-6), who, despite the loss, have earned a point in 10 straight games.

Battalion goalie Matej Machovsky made 36 saves in a losing effort.

The Majors scored once on six power-play opportunities while the Battalion went 1 for 4 with the man advantage.

Brampton captain Sam Carrick extended his career-high point streak to nine games with an assist on Goodrow's opening goal. He's registered seven goals and eight assists in that span.
