Maxwell makes 24 saves as the Majors beat the Whalers 2-0 @NHLdotcom

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Brandon Maxwell turned aside 24 shots, earning first star of the game, as his Mississauaga St. Michael's Majors shutout the host Plymouth Whalers 2-0 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Eric Diodati and Mika Partanen each scored for the Majors (19-17-6), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Matt Mahalak stopped 24 shots in the loss.

Mississauaga went 2 for 3 on the power play while Plymouth failed to score on three opportunities with the man advantage.

The loss snapped the Whalers' (29-10-3) seven-game winning streak.
