Max Reinhart's hat trick helps Ice defeat Blades 6-1 in WHL action @NHL

SASKATOON - Max Reinhart had a hat trick Wednesday as the Kootenay Ice toppled the Saskatoon Blades 6-1 in Western Hockey League play.

Brock Montgomery, Erik Benoit and Jonathan Martin also scored for Kootenay (19-5-3), while Sam Reinhart picked up four assists.

Ice goaltender Nathan Lieuwen made 20 saves for the win.

Jake Trask had the lone goal for Saskatoon (18-9-1).

Blades goaltender Andrey Markov allowed four goals on 22 shots before getting replaced by Adam Todd after Max Reinhart's hat-trick goal to make it 4-1 at 6:29 of the third.

Benoit made it 5-1 at 8:46 and Martin added to Saskatoon's misery with a sixth goal with two minutes to go in regulation.

Martin scooped up a rebound off a hard shot from Sam Reinhart and buried it past Todd, who finished with five saves.

Kootenay finished the night 0-for-3 on the power play, while Saskatoon wound up 0-for-5.
