Maurice to coach for Magnitogorsk of KHL @NHLdotcom

Paul Maurice will be back behind the bench next season -- but it won't be in the National Hockey League.

Maurice has been named as the new coach for Magnitogorsk of the KHL, where he will reunite with former Carolina Hurricanes goalie coach Tom Barrasso, who will serve as one of his assistants.

Maurice was fired by the Hurricanes this past season after posting an 8-13-4 record, and replaced by Kirk Muller. In two stints as coach of the Hartford/Carolina franchise as well as two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Maurice has a career record of 460-457-99-69. In 2002, he led the Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup Final, where they lost in five games to Detroit.
