SUDBURY, Ont. - Belleville Bulls forward Shawn Matthias had a goal and an assist to lead the Ontario Hockey League all-stars over the Russian Selects 4-2 Monday in Game 4 of the ADT Challenge.
Canada now leads the series with three wins after the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League all-stars had a shootout win and a loss in the first two games, while the OHL beat the Selects 5-3 in regulation on Thursday.
Matthias scored at 5:09 of the second period on a feed from Kingston Frontenacs centre Cory Emmerton to put the OHL up 3-1.
Bulls winger Bryan Cameron, Oshawa Generals star forward John Tavares and Nick Spaling of the Kitchener Rangers also scored for the all-stars. Logan Couture of the Ottawa 67's helped out with two assists.
Alexander Vasyunov and Vadim Golubtsov, with a short-handed marker, counted for the Selects.
Trevor Cann made 14 saves while Russian goaltender Sergey Gayduchenko stopped 22 shots.
The Canada-Russia Challenge, which Hockey Canada uses to rate players eligible for the national team, continues Wednesday night in Cranbrook, B.C., when the final two games are played against the Western Hockey League all-stars. Game 6 is Thursday in Medicine Hat, Alta.
