Matthews fakes out Marner, pretends to toss milestone puck in crowd

A souvenir intended for Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner almost ended up with a lucky fan. At least that's what Auston Matthews wants us to think.

On Saturday, Marner scored a goal in the second period of a4-1 win against the Detroit Red Wings for his 500th NHL point.
Matthews, being the good teammate and friend he is, retrieved the puck. But, the favor was conditional.

As he skated toward the bench, Matthews was going to have a little fun with his friend, pretending to toss the puck to a fan in attendance at Scotiabank Arena.
Never fear, though. Matthews eventually tossed it to a Maple Leafs staff member after the prank.
No word on if Marner saw the fakeout, but he was given the puck after the game.

It all worked out in the end.
