Matt Rupert scores twice, Knights down Majors and move into OHL lead

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Matt Rupert scored a pair of power-play goals Wednesday to lead the London Knights to a 6-3 win over the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors in an Ontario Hockey League game between the top two ranked junior teams in the country.

Twin brother Ryan Rupert also scored on the man advantage while Dane Fox, Jared Knight and Andreas Athanasiou had the other goals for the top-ranked Knights (9-2-0).

Derek Schoenmakers scored a pair and Mika Partanen also had a goal for the No. 2 Majors (8-2-1).

With the win, the Knights took sole possession of first place in the OHL. Heading into Wednesday, the Knights were one point behind the Majors, Sarnia Sting and Windsor Spitfires.

Michael Houser made 23 saves to get the win while J.P. Anderson stopped 37 shots in a losing cause. The Knights went 3-for-9 on the power play and the Majors went 1-for-4.
