Matt Murray Penguins 5916

CRANBERRY, Pa. -- Rookie Matt Murray will be the starting goalie for the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Second Round against the Washington Capitals at Consol Energy Center on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports). Marc-Andre Fleury will remain as the backup.
Penguins coach Mike Sullivan made the announcement following Pittsburgh's practice at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex on Monday. Pittsburgh leads the best-of-7 series 3-2.

Murray has started eight straight games, going 6-2 with a 1.96 goals-against average and .937 save percentage, but there was a debate brewing about who would start Game 6 after Murray allowed three goals on 19 shots in a 3-1 loss in Game 5 on Saturday.
Sullivan ended that debate with his announcement.
Fleury has not played since March 31, when he sustained his second concussion of the season. He has been Murray's backup since Game 3 against the Capitals.
