ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Matt Frattin scored his seventh of the season in the third period and it stood as the winner as the Toronto Marlies edged the Rochester Americans 3-2 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.
Sam Carrick and Byron Froese also found the back of the net for the Marlies (12-15-4).
Brodie Reid and Tim Schaller replied for Rochester (12-19-1).
Christopher Gibson turned away 24 shots for Toronto while Andrey Makarov made 17 saves in the loss.
The Marlies were scoreless on three power-play chances while the Americans failed to score on six opportunities.
