Matt Duchene scores two goals as Brampton edges Kingston 5-3 @NHLdotcom

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Rookie forward Matt Duchene scored twice, including the winner at the 19:02 mark of the second period as the Brampton Battalion closed out the regular season with a 5-3 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs.

Luke Lynes, Thomas Stajan and John Hughes also scored for Brampton (42-22-1-3), while Kyle Paige, Bobby Mignardi and Nathan Moon countered for Kingston (25-41-0-2).

Mavric Parks made 43 saves in the Kingston net while Patrick Killeen turned aside 19 of 22 shots.

With the second seed in the Eastern Conference, the Battalion will face their Central Division rivals, the Barrie Colts, who enter the post-season as the seventh seed in the east. With a ninth place finish in the conference, Kingston misses the playoffs.
