Matt Duchene scores goal and assist as Brampton finally beats Barrie @NHLdotcom

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Trailing two games to none, the Brampton Battalion desperately needed a win in game three to get back into their first round series with the Barrie Colts. They accomplished just that.

John Hughes' goal 4:06 into the second period stood as the winner as the Battalion skated to a 5-1 victory, reaching the 50-shot plateau for the second consecutive game. Bobby Sanguinetti and Matt Duchene also counted, with Cody Hodgson netting a pair.

Barrie's lone marker came from Marcus Pepe.

Bryan Pitton put together another solid effort in the Battalion net, turning aside 31 of 32 shots. Michael Hutchinson made 45 saves for the Colts.

The win was the Battalion's first against the Colts in post-season play since game one of an Eastern Conference semi-final series on April 6, 2006. Barrie had won 10 straight playoff encounters since then.
