BARRIE, Ont. - Mathias Niederberger made 29 saves as the Barrie Colts hammered the Sudbury Wolves 7-0 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday night.
Anthony Camara and Winnipeg Jets prospect Mark Scheifele each scored a pair of goals for the Colts (38-22-4), who maintained a two-point lead over Brampton for third place in the Eastern Conference.
Aaron Ekblad, Dan Erlich and Tanner Pearson had the other goals for Barrie, while Ivan Telegin chipped in with a pair of assists.
Joel Vienneau made 20 saves for the Wolves (34-24-5), who fell to five points behind Brampton in the race for home ice in the first round of the playoffs.
Special teams played a very big factor in Thursday's game.
Barrie went 2-for-2 on the man advantage, scoring both goals on identical Ekblad shots.
Meanwhile, Sudbury finished the evening at 0-for-4, including a two-minute 5-on-3 advantage on which it was unable to score.
