Mathews stymies Kelowna in shootout as Moose Jaw earns 3-2 win @NHLdotcom

KELOWNA, B.C. - Moose Jaw Warriors goalie Todd Mathews made seven saves in the shootout as the Warriors beat the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 Tuesday night.

Mathews' heroics set the stage for Frazer McLaren's shootout winner in the eighth round of shots. It's the second time this season the two teams have taken a shootout to eight shooters.

Ryley Grantham and Brett Ward staked the Warriors to a 2-0 lead before Brandon McMillan and Jamie Benn evened the score before the end of the second period.

Mathews made 22 saves in regulation and overtime, including four while the Warriors were short-handed in the extra period. Kelowna's Torrie Jung made 21 saves and stopped six of the eight shootout shots he faced.
