Martins leads the South East Prarie Thunder into semis at Allan Cup with 7-3 win

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - Jordan Alford made 23 saves, Travis Brigley, Curtis Austring and Sean Robertson each had a goal and an assist and the Bentley Generals beat the Powell River Regals 5-1 to claim a spot in the semifinals at the Allan Cup senior hockey championship on Thursday.

Kevin Smyth and Tyler Haarstad had the other goals for the Generals, while Darren Van Impe and Joe Vandermeer each added two assists.

Bentley will take on the Dundas Real McCoys in one of Friday's semifinals.

Tyler Leibel had the only goal for Powell River, while Chad Vizzutti turned aside 38 shots in defeat.

In Thursday's other quarter-final, Mike Martens had two goals and an assist as the South East Prairie Thunder beat the Clarenville Caribous 7-3.

Cory Baldwin added a goal and two assists, while Nick Fuher and Tim Krymusa had a goal and an assist each for the Thunder, who will play the host Fort St. John Flyers in Friday's other semifinal.

Travis Kornelsen and Tim Plett also scored for South East Prairie, while Dane Crowley added three assists.

Chris Peach, Derrick Kent and Mitch Oake replied for Clarenville.

Justin Harrris made 27 saves to pick up the win, while Jason Churchill faced 60 shots in defeat.
