Martin not part of Penguins' morning skate

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Paul Martin, who left Thursday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes with a lower-body injury, will apparently remain out of the lineup Saturday. He did not appear with the Penguins at the team's morning skate ahead of their matchup Saturday night at the Bell Centre against the Montreal Canadiens.

Martin had been skating on the Penguins' top defensive pairing alongside Brooks Orpik. In his absence, Orpik skated Saturday with Kris Letang. Mark Eaton, who was signed last week to a one-year contract after starting the season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, took Letang's place on the second pairing.

"A lot of different emotions," said Eaton, who will make his season debut. "Excited, nervous. Looking forward to it."

Martin's place alongside Letang on the team's top power-play unit will be taken by Matt Niskanen, whose spot on the second unit will now be occupied by Simon Despres.

Here is the Penguins' projected lineup for Saturday's game:

Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - Pascal Dupuis

Matt Cooke - Brandon Sutter - James Neal

Beau Bennett - Dustin Jeffrey - Tyler Kennedy

Tanner Glass - Joe Vitale - Craig Adams

Brooks Orpik - Kris Letang

Mark Eaton - Matt Niskanen

Deryk Engelland - Simon Despres

Tomas Vokoun

Marc-Andre Fleury
