, who hasn't played since suffering a right knee injury in Game 1 of the Canadiens' second-round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins
, skated in full gear during Friday's practice.
Markov was hurt in the first period of Game 1 when he was checked hard into the boards by the Penguins' Matt Cooke
and did not return.
The full extent of the defenseman's knee injury has not been disclosed, but he did skate Wednesday morning prior to the Canadiens' Game 7 win against the Penguins.
Markov's return would add a strong offensive presence to the Canadiens for the Eastern Conference Final. He had 34 points in just 45 games, as he missed nearly half the season after suffering a severed tendon in his left ankle opening night.
While Markov skated, fellow blueliners Hal Gill
and Josh Gorges
skipped the practice, as did checking forward Dominic Moore
. The Canadiens reported all three players as healthy, and their absences were due to "maintenance days."
