The 31-year-old defenseman scored an NHL career-high 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 53 games with the Ottawa Senators last season.
"I'm so excited," Borowiecki said. "There's a lot of different reasons. Just for fun, when we had an idea that we'd be going to free agency, my wife and I kind of sat down and you go through the teams in the League and places you'd like to be and Nashville was always top of the list for us. ... Knowing a few guys who have played in Nashville, they had nothing but great things to say about the organization, the guys there and the city itself. It just seemed like a great fit, and my wife and I are super excited.
"Lots of high-end skill (on the Predators) for sure. Having to deal with guys like (forward) Filip Forsberg and obviously knowing [center Matt Duchene] and playing against him a lot and (defenseman) Roman Josi, guys who are top-end players in this League and give this team a chance to win every single night, it's really intriguing. ... I want a chance to win. I think Nashville is right there, and with a few tweaks we can get there. That combined with the community aspects, hearing what the level of professionalism is in this organization, what they value and what their values are, I was just super interested right from the get-go. It really did seem like a great fit for us."
Predators general manager David Poile said the addition of Borowiecki checks a lot of boxes for Nashville.
"He has a level of grit and physicality that we need to get to back to playing to a new standard, if you will, in that area of physicality and grit," Poile said. "In addition, it's pretty obvious in watching him play and in having some conversations with him this past week that he'll bring a lot of veteran leadership to our hockey club."
Selected by the Senators in the fifth round (No. 139) of the 2008 NHL Draft, Borowiecki has scored 51 points (15 goals, 36 assists) in 375 regular-season games through nine seasons in the League and no points in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games.
