Marco Scandella of Wild has hip surgery

Defenseman expected to be ready for start of 2016-17 season

Minnesota Wild defenseman Marco Scandella had left arthroscopic hip surgery and is expected to be ready for the start of next season, general manager Chuck Fletcher said Tuesday.

Scandella, 27, had 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 71 regular-season games with the Wild this season and had no points in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The No. 55 pick in the 2008 NHL Draft by the Wild, Scandella has 89 points (27 goals, 62 assists) in 373 regular-season games.
