Marchese scores two early goals to lead the Spitfires over the Greyhounds 5-3 @NHLdotcom

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - The Windsor Spitfires jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 5-3 win over the host Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Chris Marchese scored a pair of first-period goals for the Spitfires (18-19-4) and Ben Johnson scored short-handed just nine seconds into the second period to give Windsor a three-goal lead.

Goals from Kerby Rychel and Saverio Posa rounded out the Spitfires scoring.

Nick Cousins had a pair of second period goals for the Greyhounds (18-19-4) while Brandon Alderson scored the other.

Goaltender Jaroslav Pavelka stopped 28 shots for the win while Matt Murray stopped 24 shots in defeat.

Windsor went 1 for 6 on the power play as Sault Ste. Marie went 1 for 5.

The victory snaps the Spitfires five-game losing streak while the Greyhounds have now dropped four straight.
