Season series: The Florida Panthers won three of four games against the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2013-14, including a 4-2 victory at BB&T Center on April 10. Nick Bjugstad had two goals and one assist and goalie Roberto Luongo made 27 saves. Drew MacIntyre made 33 saves in his first career start for Toronto.
Maple Leafs team scope: Toronto snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-0 win against the Dallas Stars on Dec. 23. Goalie Jonathan Bernier made 43 saves for his second shutout of the season. Prior to their skid, the Maple Leafs had won six straight, including a 6-2 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Air Canada Centre on Dec. 16. Forward Leo Komarov may be close to returning from a concussion he sustained against the Washington Capitals on Nov. 29. Komarov has been cleared for non-contact practice, coach Randy Carlyle said, according to the Toronto Sun, and was on the ice during practice Saturday. The 27-year-old has 16 points in 23 games this season. The Maple Leafs play the fourth game of a seven-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday.
Panthers team scope: Florida split its home-and-home against the Pittsburgh Penguins by earning a 4-3 shootout victory on Dec. 22. Jimmy Hayes had two goals in regulation and Aleksander Barkov scored the winner in the seventh round of the tiebreaker. Each of the Panthers' past four wins has been decided in a shootout with Luongo in goal. Luongo has a career record of 15-7-2 with a 2.29 goals-against average and two shutouts against Toronto. Center Dave Bolland will play his first game against the Maple Leafs since signing with Florida during the offseason. He had 12 points in 23 games for Toronto last season.
