' forward Manny Malhotra
joined NHL Live to discuss his game-winning, overtime goal that defeated the Philadelphia Flyers
and ended a five-game winless streak.
"It's always great to score, I think anybody will tell you that, but more importantly to get out of that losing slump really felt good for the whole room," Malhotra said.
Malhotra played just nine games last season before the Vancouver Canucks shut him down citing concerns about his eye, seriously injured by a deflected puck late in the 2010-11 season. Unsigned at the start of 2013-14, Malhotra joined the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League on a tryout before signing a contract with the Hurricanes.
"I'm ecstatic," Malhotra said. "I'm very grateful for the opportunity that they've given me here. I'm looking to make the most of it. After a long summer of the phone not ringing and having a lot of doubts as to whether I'd get this opportunity again, I'm really happy back in this position."
