Colorado Avalanche prospects Cale Makar and Conor Timmins were named to Hockey Canada's roster for the National Junior Team Selection Camp on Wednesday.
The defensemen are two of 32 players that will be evaluated during the four-day event, which runs Dec. 12-15 in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Colorado's first-round selection (fourth overall) at the 2017 NHL Draft, Makar is playing in the NCAA for the University of Massachusetts and has registered nine points (one goal, eight assists) in 15 contests. His eight helpers are tied for the team lead and he is fifth on team in points this season.
Last year, the 19-year-old was the highest scoring defenseman in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with 24 goals and 51 assists in 54 contests with the Brooks Bandits. He played for Canada West in the 2016 World Junior-A Challenge last December and had eight points (four goals, four assists) in four games at the tournament.
Colorado's second selection (32nd overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft, Timmins is in his second season with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League. Through 26 contests this campaign, he has recorded 32 points (six goals, 26 assists), fourth best among OHL blueliners.
The selection camp will feature three exhibition games, two against a U Sports team on Dec. 13 and 14, and an exhibition contest against Denmark on Dec. 15.
The final 22-player roster is expected to be announced on Dec. 15. The 2018 World Junior Championship begins on Dec. 26 and runs through Jan. 5 and will take place in Buffalo, New York.
