ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - Taylor Beck scored the winner in a shootout as the Milwaukee Admirals defeated the Abbotsford Heat 2-1 in American Hockey League action Saturday.
Beck and Patrick Cehlin both beat Heat goalie Reto Berra, while Magnus Hellberg stopped all four shooters he faced to go with his 28 saves in regulation.
Colton Sissons tied the game with less than four minutes to play in the third, helping Milwaukee (1-0-1) to the comeback win.
Roman Horak scored for Abbotsford (2-1-1), while Berra ended with 28 saves.
After a scoreless opening 40 minutes, the Heat scored 41 seconds into the third, with Horak finishing off a pretty play. On a power play, Chad Bilins won a race for the puck, pushing the puck ahead to Max Reinhart at the face-off dot and he quickly set up Horak for a one-timer at the left side of the net.
Abbotsford kept its foot on the gas, carrying the flow of play for most of the third, but Milwaukee tied the game at 16:16.
Beck threw the puck toward the net and Sissons got just enough of a deflection that it curled just under the pad of Berra.
Milwaukee continued to press for another goal, but couldn't solve Heat's netminder.
Overtime saw just one shot between the two teams, sending the game to the shootout.
NOTES: Ben Hanowski had points in each of his first three AHL games, but had his streak snapped Saturday. ... Abbotsford was 1 for 5 on the power play, Milwaukee went 0 for 5.
