MacKinnon, MacLean score in shootout as Sault Ste. Marie downs Kitchener 3-2 @NHLdotcom

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Sunday's meeting between the top two teams in the OHL's Western Conference didn't disappoint - especially for fans of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Chris MacKinnon and Brandon MacLean scored in the shootout as the Greyhounds slid past Kitchener 3-2, moving Sault Ste. Marie to within two points of the Rangers for top spot in the conference.

Josh Godfrey and Aaron Alphonso scored in regulation for the Greyhounds (21-6-1-1), while Kyle Gajewski made 27 saves in regulation and overtime and added two in the shootout to earn the win.

Justin Azevedo and Nick Spaling countered for the Rangers (22-4-0-2). Josh Unice stopped 22 shots in defeat.
