Machac, Robinson lead the Battalion over the Colts @NHLdotcom

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Patrik Machac and Brandon Robinson scored seven seconds apart early in the second period as the Brampton Battalion skated to a 5-3 win over the visiting Barrie Colts in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.

Machac and Robinson also had a pair of assists each for the Battalion (26-21-9), who won for the first time in three outings, while Barclay Goodrow, Matt MacLeod and Brendan Childerley scored a goal apiece.

"It feels great to get the win today," said Childerley. "Obviously, there?s a long history with those guys (Barrie) so it?s always easy to get up for a game against them."

Mark Scheifele, Mitchell Theoret and Erik Bradford scored for the Colts (36-17-3), who failed to earn a point for the first time in four games.

Scheifele's goal extended his point streak to nine games and he has nine goals and 11 assists during his run.

Brampton's Jake Smith made 17 saves for the win as Alex Fotinos allowed five goals on 22 shots in 40 minutes of action. Mathias Niederberger replaced Fotinos for the start of the third period and stopped the only two shots he faced.

The Battalion went 1 for 3 on the power play while the Colts scored once on six chances with the man advantage.

Barrie opened the scoring 2:23 into the game when Bradford beat Smith from the slot. The visitors added to their lead on a two-man advantage when Scheifele converted on a one-timer from the left face-off circle.

The Battalion curbed the deficit to one before the first intermission with a power-play goal of their own when Goodrow deflected Dylan Blujus??? point shot past Fotinos.

MacLeod tied the game two minutes into the second period before Robinson and Machac made it 4-2 Brampton.

Theoret brought the Colts to within a goal before Childerley restored the home side???s two-goal advantage in the final minute of the second.
