right wing Joffrey Lupul
was cleared to play by team doctors and activated off the club's long-term injury list Sunday. Hours later, he found himself in the lineup.
It had been nearly one year since Lupul last appeared in an NHL contest, but Lupul was dressed and ready to go Sunday night as the Ducks faced the Phoenix Coyotes
at the Honda Center. Lupul last played on Dec. 8, 2009 against Dallas.
Back surgery and a subsequent blood infection is what kept Lupul out of the lineup. He suffered a setback in July and was forced to stay off the ice for roughly three months.
On a conditioning stint, Lupul went 1-3-4 in three games for AHL Syracuse before returning to the big club.
To make room for him on the roster, the Ducks reassigned right wing Dan Sexton
to AHL Syracuse.
