Luongo doesn't skate, but will start vs. Ducks

by Curtis Zupke
ANAHEIM -- It appears that Roberto Luongo will get another turn in net for the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night.
Luongo was expected to get the night off after he backstopped Vancouver to a 3-2 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday.

Luongo wasn't at Friday's sparsely attended optional skate, but when Corey Schneider came off the ice he threw reporters a curve when he said he wasn't starting against the Anaheim Ducks.

Vancouver is finishing a six-game road trip in which they had three days off between games.

"I think they just want to keep Lu in a rhythm," Schneider said. "He's coming back into form and is playing well, so I'm sure they just want to get him going."

Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault wasn't available to comment, and neither was Luongo. Schneider said he found out Thursday night and understood.

"We had three days off before, so to go back-to-back for Lu after three days off isn't such a big deal," he said. "I'm sure he's looking forward to getting back in there again."
