Luke Walker scores twice as Winterhawks cruise by Cougars 5-2 @NHLdotcom

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Luke Walker scored twice as the Portland Winterhawks moved into sole possession of third place in the WHL Western Conference with a 5-2 win Friday over the Prince George Cougars.

Portland scored three times in the third period to push the last-overall Cougars (11-42-3) to within one loss of official elimination from playoff contention.

Walker scored his 24th and 25th goals of the season, including a short-handed penalty shot in the third period to lead Portland (36-20-3).

Spencer Bennett, Chris Francis and Taylor Aronson also scored for the Winterhawks.

Alex Rodgers and Kurt Torbohm scored for Prince George.

Winterhawks goaltender Mac Carruth stopped 30 for the win, while at the other end Hudson Stremmel made 32 saves.
