MSISISSAUGA, Ont. - Luke Pither and J.P. Labardo scored less than three minutes apart early in the third period to lift the Guelph Storm to a 3-1 victory over the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors Saturday afternoon in the Ontario Hockey League.
Pither's seventh goal of the season came past the first minute of the third and the game 1-1. Labardo followed up with the first goal of his OHL career just over two minutes later for the Storm (11-6-0-1).
Left winger Brandon Buck sealed the win for the Storm when he scored into an empty net with 26 seconds remaining in the final frame. It was his fifth goal this season.
Veteran Mike Pelech had given the Majors (7-7-0-0) a 1-0 lead early in the first period when he scored his fourth goal of the season while Mississauga was on a power play.
The Majors have the lowest number of goals (35) of any team in the OHL.
Guelph had 33 shots at Mississauga's rookie netminder J.P. Anderson. Thomas McCollum, making his 15th appearance in goal for the Storm, turned aside 32 of 33 shots.
