ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Luca Caputi scored a hat trick and added an assist as the Niagara IceDogs won 5-2 against the Ottawa 67's in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.

Caputi completed the hat trick in the third period, putting the game on ice after Ottawa (13-12-0-2) had closed to one goal after two periods.

Caputi scored twice in the first period, the first on a nice pass by Matthew Sisca.

After Mike Swift's power-play goal, Caputi's second came on a short-handed effort after a nice back-and-forth passing play with Jordan Foreman.

Jamie McGinn and Cody Lindsay brought the visitors to within one in the second period before Andrew Merrett, on the power play, gave the IceDogs (16-12-0-1) some breathing room going into the third period.

Caputi's third brought down a rain of hats from the 2,382 fans in attendance. The IceDogs outshot the 67's 30-20.
