WASHINGTON -- Marcus Johansson scored the go-ahead goal with 5:25 remaining in the third period, and the Washington Capitals rallied to defeat the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 at Capital One Arena on Saturday.

Johansson scored on a wraparound that deflected in off Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke's skate after a give-and-go with Dmitry Orlov on the rush.
"I was a little bit tired, and my first thought was to go to [T.J. Oshie in the slot], but the puck kind of jumped my blade or something," Johansson said. "But then I just wanted to get it to the net and it snuck in."

LAK@WSH: Johansson's wrap attempt restores the lead

John Carlson had a goal and an assist for the Capitals (3-3-0), who scored four goals in the third after entering the period trailing 2-0. Nic Dowd and Lars Eller scored, Orlov had three assists, and Darcy Kuemper made 22 saves.
"Usually they or I, or we both together have a good idea when we don't play well," Washington coach Peter Laviolette said. "It didn't feel like it was 2-0 and so we just stayed with it. The big thing was putting more pucks to the net, trying to generate more chances, whether it be the first chance or the second chance, third chance."
Washington outshot Los Angeles 17-13 in the third period.
Viktor Arvidsson had a goal and two assists, and Trevor Moore had two assists for the Kings (3-4-0) who finished 3-2-0 on their five-game road trip. Sean Durzi and Phillip Danault scored, and Jonathan Quick made 28 saves.
"You look at it at 3-2, but then obviously the last two, the [6-1 loss at] Pittsburgh (on Thursday), we weren't real pleased with. This game wasn't a disaster, although we gave up four in the third to lose it," Los Angeles coach Todd McLellan said. "So, we're still not where we need to be, quite frankly, and I think that's evident in the amount of goals we've given up."

LAK@WSH: Dowd brings Washington within one on rebound

Dowd pulled the Capitals within 2-1 at 3:11 of the third after getting to a loose puck in the left face-off circle, and Carlson's shot from the left circle on the rush deflected in off Quick's glove to tie it 2-2 at 4:10.
It was the second time in three games the Capitals rallied to win after trailing by two entering the third period. They trailed 4-2 before defeating the Vancouver Canucks 6-4 on Monday here.
"We said in here, 'We already did it once this year and we can do it again,'" Johansson said. "We had chances to score goals, and with this team there's plenty of guys that can score. We stuck with it and we got some looks and it started going in."

LAK@WSH: Carlson gets one by Quick to tie the game

Eller gave the Capitals a 3-2 lead at 8:59, shooting over Quick's left shoulder from the right circle after a cross-ice pass from Orlov.
Arvidsson tied it 3-3 at 10:31 when he tipped in a pass from Moore to finish a 2-on-1.
"I think I've been playing pretty well this trip, better and better, and I think I got rewarded for it tonight," Arvidsson said. "I'm more comfortable with the puck and making plays and I think we're starting to get our groove back, me, [Danault] and [Moore], and I think we're feeling better."

LAK@WSH: Eller finishes the cross-ice feed from Orlov

Durzi gave the Kings a 1-0 lead at 1:26 of the second period when he scored from the slot after Arvidsson fed him from below the goal line.
Danault made it 2-0 at the left post at 15:23 when he deflected Arvidsson's cross-ice pass.
"The two first periods we really limited their chances and had good sticks, and then they hurt us in the third," Arvidsson said.
