LAK@SJS: Kane caps Sharks' skillful passing sequence

SAN JOSE-- Martin Jones made 42 saves, and the San Jose Sharks swept a two-game set against the Los Angeles Kings with a 4-2 win at SAP Center in San Jose, California on Wednesday.

Evander Kane scored twice and Brent Burns had two assists for the Sharks (13-14-4), who won consecutive games for the second time this season following their 2-1 victory against the Kings in San Jose on Monday. The Sharks won three straight from March 8-13.
"We knew they were huge, huge games," Burns said. "You want to win at home every game and it's always just about establishing wins and getting points, so that was good."
Alex Iafallo and Adrian Kempe scored for the Kings (13-13-6), who have lost three of four and five of seven. Drew Doughty had two assists, and Cal Petersen made 24 saves.
"We seem to kind of hang around and play better when we're playing the teams at the top of our division, which is not a good thing," Doughty said. "We need to win these games if we want to [qualify for the] playoffs. Again, no disrespect to San Jose; just they're a team that I think is more equal to us than a team like Colorado or Vegas."
The Sharks scored goals 1:22 apart early in the third period after Iafallo cut it to 2-1 at 19:47 of the second on a redirection of Dustin Brown's pass.

Kane tipped a shot by Mario Ferraro from the point 21 seconds into the third to give San Jose a 3-1 lead.
"When you let a goal in with 12 seconds to go in the second period, you got a 2-0 lead, those are tough and you wonder how's your team going to come out in the third period," Sharks coach Bob Boughner said. "You can say all the right things in the room, but it's a mentality and we came out and went on the attack. We took the momentum back that we gave them at the end of the period, and I was real happy to see that."
Tomas Hertl then scored at 1:43 with a shot from the slot to make it 4-1.
"That can't happen in any period, let alone the third," Doughty said.
Iafallo cut it to 4-2 at 4:27 near the far post after Doughty lost the puck at the edge of the crease.
Rudolfs Balcers gave San Jose a 1-0 lead at 2:14 of the first period on a pass from Marcus Sorensen on the rush.

Kane made it 2-0 at 13:39 with a wrist shot from the left circle to finish a 4-on-2.
"We weren't scoring, we had some chances," Kings coach Todd McLellan said. "We got impatient and they stung us for it. It's a tough lesson to learn."
Sharks forward Logan Couture left the game after a hit from Kings forward Jeff Carter with 2:55 remaining in the third. Boughner said Couture is being evaluated.
