Lorentz scores twice as the Rangers down the Majors 6-1 @NHL

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Zach Lorentz scored two goals to lead the Kitchener Rangers to a 6-1 victory over the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors in Ontario Hockey League play Sunday afternoon at the Hershey Centre.

Lorentz opened the scoring 1:55 before the end of the first period and netted the game winner 1:12 into the second. Radek Faksa scored a short-handed goal and added two assists, Julian Melchiori had a goal and an assist and Josh Sterk and Cody Sol added singles to round out the Rangers (21-9-1) scoring.

Mika Partanen scored the only goal for the Majors (14-13-4), who lost captain Stuart Percy to injury near the end of the second. Percy went head first into the boards after a hit by Ben Thompson, who was given a five-minute major for boarding.

Percy missed six games as a result of two seperate injuries in October.

Kitchener goalie John Gibson stopped 35 shots while Mississauga's Spencer Martin turned aside 23.

Kitchener went 1-for-6 on the power play and Mississauga finished 0-for-1.
