Lombardi signs 3-year deal with Flames

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -Matthew Lombardi signed a three-year extension with the Flames on Friday.

The 25-year-old forward is coming off a breakout season. He set career highs in goals (20) and assists (26) while playing 81 games this season. He also had a goal and an assist in six playoff games against Detroit.

In 215 career NHL regular-season games, Lombardi has 42 goals and 59 assists.

The Flames have also re-signed forward Marcus Nilson to a two-year deal. Nilson, an eight-year NHL veteran, had five goals and 10 assists in 63 games this season. In 474 career regular-season games, he has 64 goals and 99 assists.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
