OTTAWA (CP) - Logan Couture registered a goal and two assists as the Ottawa 67's defeated the Peterborough Petes 4-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday.
The win means the 67's are just one win or one Peterborough loss away from claiming the second-to-last playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. "You look to make the playoffs," 67's coach and general manager Brian Kilrea said following the game.
"You hope to finish as high as you can but we're in a position where we just want to make the playoffs. That was a huge game for us, a playoff type game, that we had to have."
Brett Liscomb, Derek Joslin and Mathieu Methot also scored for the 67's (28-31-0-4), while Lukas Flueler made 30 saves for the victory.
Branislav Rehus had the only goal for the Petes (24-35-1-4) who were 4-3 shootout winners over the 67's in Peterborough Thursday night.
Trevor Cann started in goal for the Petes and allowed three goals on 38 shots through two periods. Jason Missiaen worked the final period and allowed one goal on nine shots.
The 67's went three-for-five on the power play while the Petes were scoreless in five opportunities.
