Lodge scores winner as Spirit edge rangers 4-3 @NHLdotcom

SAGINAW, Mich. - Jimmy Lodge scored the winning goal early in the third period as the Saginaw Spirit defeated the visiting Kitchener Rangers 4-3 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Carlos Amestoy, Brandon Saad and Dalton Young also scored for the Spirit (33-27-8), who secured the fifth seed in the Western Conference.

Max Iafrate, Tyler Randell and Josh Sterk each had a goal for the Rangers (42-23-2), who sat many of their regulars after already clinching the third seed in the West.

Jake Paterson made 26 saves for the win while Franky Palazzese turned away 48 shots in a losing effort.

Saginaw failed to score on two chances with the man advantage as Kitchener went 1 for 4.
