TORONTO / NEW YORK - Montreal hip-hop group Loco Locass and Toronto-based indie rock band The Beaches will be part of the musical lineup for the 2013 Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off at Place des Festivals in Montreal on Tuesday, Oct. 1, the National Hockey League, CBC's Hockey Night in Canada and Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation announced today.
Both acts will share the Molson Canadian stage with headliner Kings of Leon for the free hockey, entertainment and community festival presented in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation and the city of Montreal.
Loco Locass will perform their set at Place des Festivals during the second intermission of the Toronto Maple Leafs-Montreal Canadiens game at Bell Centre. The group is familiar to hockey fans in Montreal, as the Canadiens adopted their single, "Le But," as their goal song. The Beaches will open the musical portion of the day’s festivities with a performance starting at 4:15 p.m. ET.
The celebration begins at 3:00 p.m. ET, rain or shine, and culminates at 7:00 p.m. ET with the live telecast of the season-opening game between the Maple Leafs and Canadiens on giant video screens. There will be prizes and giveaways; hockey attractions; special guest appearances; and food, beverage and merchandise available for purchase.
A full schedule of events will be announced later this week.
