TBL FT Split

Jeff Vinik couldn't be in the bubble, so the Tampa Bay Lightning brought the party to him in true 2020 fashion.

The Lightning chairman and governor called into their locker room celebration congratulating them for their second Stanley Cup championship in team history after their 2-0 win against the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Vinik purchased the Lightning in 2010, six years after their first championship, and watched them fall short of the championship in each subsequent season since - coming closest with a six-game loss to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Final in 2015.
Vinik was in Florida watching the Lightning complete their 18-7 run through the Stanley Cup Playoffs and had to tell his players how happy he was.
"Hey guys, awesome job," Vinik said on a video call. "So many years in the making, with new guys and the guys who have been here for a while, unbelievable effort. Dominant through the playoffs. You deserve it. Fantastic. We are so, so excited here and we are so excited to see you here tomorrow."
