Lidstrom to sit this weekend @NHLdotcom
The sore ankle that sidelined Detroit captain Nicklas Lidstrom for Tuesday's game will keep him out Friday and Sunday as well.

Lidstrom hasn't skated since his ankle was hit by the puck during the second period against Colorado, though he did finish Saturday's game against Avalanche.

Lidstrom, who has rarely missed games or practices throughout his 20 NHL seasons, will sit out home games against Minnesota on Friday and Chicago on Sunday. He also missed Tuesday's 5-2 win at Columbus.

"Doctors said he's out for the weekend and will be re-evaluated on Monday," GM Ken Holland told

Before the injury, Lidstrom had missed just one game all season -- he sat out the Jan. 25 game at Montreal due to the flu. If Lidstrom is sidelined for the next two games, he will have missed 38 out of a possible 1,850 regular-season and Stanley Cup playoff games during his career.

The Wings are also without Jonathan Ericsson, who fractured his left wrist on Saturday when he was hit by defense partner Brad Stuart's clearing attempt. The Wings did receive some good news Thursday morning when Kyle Quincey was back at practice for the first time since he injured a groin during the first period of Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Avalanche. He's expected to be a game-time decision on Friday night.
