Lewadniuk's four points lifts Brandon to 5-3 win over Swift Current @NHLdotcom

BRANDON, Man. - Aaron Lewadniuk had a pair of goals and assisted on two others to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 5-3 win over the Swift Current Broncos in the Western Hockey League playoffs Saturday night.

Jay Fehr added a goal and two assists as the Wheat Kings took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final. Brayden Schenn and Travis Hamonic also scored for Brandon.

Cody Eakin, Justin Dowling and Stepan Novotny replied for the Broncos.

Brandon netminder Jacob DeSerres made 20 saves, while Mark Friesen stopped 36 shots in his first start of the series for Swift Current.

Swift Current will be the home team for Game 3 of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday, although the contest will be played in Regina because as the Broncos' home arena is occupied by the world women's curling championship.
