Lethbridge Hurricanes upset Kootenay 4-1; score three in final period @NHLdotcom

CRANBROOK, B.C. - Lethbridge scored three goals in the final period as the Hurricanes sailed to a 4-1 win over the Kootenay Ice in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.

Ryan Moser, Mitch Maxwell and Cam Braes completed the rally for Lethbridge (19-39-8), while Cason Machacek scored in the first period.

Max Reinhart had the only goal for Kootenay (39-22-5).

Machacek floated a shot from the hash marks along the board that beat the goalie on the stick side.

The Ice's Matt Fraser was awarded a penalty shot and his shot hit the post along the ice low on the stick side.

Kootenay scored the lone goal of the second as Fraser made a pass from behind the net to Max Reinhart who beat the fallen goalie.

Early in the third period the Hurricanes scored 2 goals in less than a minute.

Moser was left alone in front of the net and received a pass from the corner from Neal Tarnasky and he had an open net for the redirection.

Mitch Maxwell made it 3-1 on a breakaway and scored on backhand deke.

The Ice then changed goalies as Todd Mathews replaced Nathan Lieuwen.

Austin Fyten took the puck behind the net and fed a wide open Braes who scored on a one-timer high on the glove side.
