Goaltender Michael Leighton
took the ice for the Philadelphia Flyers
on Thursday night for the first time since Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final last June.
Leighton was in goal for the Flyers when they took on the Los Angeles Kings
at the Staples Center. It was his first NHL action since June 9, when he allowed Patrick Kane
's overtime winner that gave the Chicago Blackhawks
the Stanley Cup.
Leighton had surgery in October to repair a herniated disk. After completing a rehabilitation stint in the AHL, he has traveled with the Flyers as their third goaltender since early this month.
The Flyers have dropped their last two games and are coming off a 6-2 thumping in Vancouver on Tuesday.
