Lehtera, in debut, helps Blues defeat Blackhawks @NHLdotcom

Center Jori Lehtera had a goal and an assist in his preseason debut, helping the St. Louis Blues to a 5-2 preseason win against the Chicago Blackhawks at Scottrade Center on Thursday.

Lehtera, who had surgery on his right ankle Aug. 4, assisted on Troy Brouwer's power-play goal at 9:32 of the first period and scored a shorthanded goal at 6:29 of the second.

The Blues went 2-for-2 on the power play, killed seven Blackhawks power plays, and scored twice while shorthanded.

Jake Allen made 20 saves, and Dmitrij Jaskin, Kevin Shattenkirk and Brouwer scored for the Blues, who finished their preseason 4-2-0.

Dennis Rasmussen and Brandon Mashinter scored first-period goals for Chicago (3-2-0). Scott Darling made 19 saves.

The Blackhawks play their final preseason game at home against the Dallas Stars on Saturday.

Neither team scored in a demonstration of the NHL’s new 3-on-3 overtime format.
