Legault's four goals, two assists lift Shawinigan past Baie-Comeau 8-1 @NHLdotcom

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. - Maxime Legault helped the Shawinigan Cataractes show why they're the class of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Legault scored four goals and added two assists as the Cataractes thumped the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 8-1 in Thursday night's lone QMJHL game.

Legault, 19, scored twice in a 3:13 span of the first period, completed his hat trick with a shorthanded goal early in the third and had his fourth of the game to conclude the scoring at 12:26 of the period.

League scoring leader Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll scored midway through the third period for the Cataractes to extend his points streak to a league-best 18 games.

Nicholas Petersen, Philippe Paradis and Pierre-Alexandre Vandall added singles as Shawinigan (25-5-0-0) won its third straight game, jumping ahead of the idle Moncton Wildcats and into sole possession of top spot in the league.

Pierre-Luc Lessard had the lone goal for the Drakkar (7-17-3-2), losers of four in a row.

Timo Pielmeier turned aside 19 shots to earn the win for Shawinigan.

Marco Cousineau and Marek Benda combined to make 28 saves for Baie-Comeau.
