Leafs sign 2006 draftee Korbiner Holzer @NHLdotcom
Defenseman Korbiner Holzer, a German Olympian and 2006 draft pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs, has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the team, President and GM Brian Burke announced Thursday.

Holzer,  a 22-year-old native of Munich, was taken by the Leafs with the 111th pick in 2006. He played 52 games for the DEG Metro Stars of the German Elite League in 2009-10, scoring 6 goals and adding 16 assists for 22 points along with 96 penalty minutes.  He ranked second on the Metro Stars in plus/minus with a plus-12 rating.

The 6-3, 205-pound defenseman represented Germany at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver where he played in four games and had two penalty minutes. He also played for his country at the just-concluded World Hockey Championships held in Germany, earning a plus-1 rating and taking a team-high 22 PIM in eight games as the Germans finished fourth.
