Rookie goaltender James Reimer
's stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs
is over, at least for now. The Leafs returned Reimer to their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, on Friday.
The Leafs recalled the 22-year-old on Dec. 17, one day after starter Jean-Sebastien Giguere
went down with a groin injury. He beat Ottawa 5-1 in his NHL debut on Jan. 1 and went 4-2-0 with a 2.26 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage in six starts, stopping 194 of 208 shots. All four of his wins came on the road, though he was the losing goaltender in Toronto's 5-1 loss at Phoenix on Thursday.
Giguere returned from his injury and served as Reimer's backup in Phoenix. He's expected to play Saturday when the Leafs host Calgary.
