Laval-Bourassa opens Telus Cup hockey tournament with 5-4 win over Moncton @NHLdotcom

SELKIRK, Man. - Alexandre Lavoie scored twice and Kevin Fiset scored the winner shorthanded as the Rousseau Sports de Laval-Bourassa earned a 5-4 win over the Moncton Flyers in the opening game of the Telus Cup on Monday.

Fiset capitalized on a turnover in the Moncton zone and beat Flyers' goaltender Scott Cale to give his team a 5-3 lead. Antony Courcelles and Sebastien Bergeron also scored for Laval-Bourassa.

In other results at the National Midget Championship on Monday, the Notre Dame Hounds tied the Calgary Buffaloes 4-4, and the Winnipeg Thrashers won 5-4 over the Hamilton Reps.

Pierre Durepos scored for Moncton with 6.6 seconds left, while Allain Saulnier, Dan McNeil and Gino Goguen also countered for the Flyers.
