SASKATOON - Shawn Lalonde of the Ontario Hockey League's Belleville Bulls scored a pair of goals Sunday as Team Red came back to beat Team White 5-3 in the final scrimmage of the Canadian junior hockey team's development camp.
Team White opened the scoring with 20 seconds left in the first period. Ryan O'Reilly of the OHL's Erie Otters scored his second goal in as many games, on a power play, cashing in on a scramble in front of Red goaltender Matt Hackett.
A tight first period gave way to a wide-open second as the teams combined for six goals.
After Cameron Gaunce of the OHL's Mississauga St. Michael's Majors scored a goal for White, Brandon Kozun of the Western Hockey League's Calgary Hitmen closed the gap for Red, tipping a Patrick Wiercioch wrist shot past goaltender Jake Allen.
Luke Adam of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Montreal Junior restored White's two-goal advantage with a wrist shot over Hackett's shoulder.
Hackett was replaced by Calgary's Martin Jones for Red at the midway point of the second, while Allen was pulled from the White net in favour of Olivier Bellavance-Roy of the QMJHL's Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Hackett, of the OHL's Plymouth Whalers, made 12 saves on 15 shots, while Montreal Junior goaltender Allen stopped five of six shots
Red put three goals past Bellavance-Roy in just over four minutes to take a 4-3 lead. After Cody Eakin of the WHL's Swift Current Broncos scored to close the gap to one goal, defenceman Lalonde, a Chicago Blackhawks prospect, scored two in a row as Red took its first lead since the 48-second mark of the first game.
Taylor Hall of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires had a chance to get an insurance goal for Red when he was awarded a penalty shot, but Bellavance-Roy got a piece of his shot.
Joe Colborne of the University of Denver ended any chance for White, scoring an empty-net goal with two seconds left in regulation.
Bellavance-Roy finished with 18 saves on 22 shots, while Jones was perfect, stopping all 17 shots he faced. Overall, White outshot Red 32-28.
