Lake Erie stages third-period rally in 6-4 win over Hamilton

CLEVELAND - Philippe Dupuis' goal with 1:45 left in regulation capped a stunning third-period rally that lifted the Lake Erie Monsters to a 6-4 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs in American Hockey League action Sunday.

Down 4-2 late, the Monsters (5-6-0-1) erupted for four unanswered goals to earn just their second win in the past seven games.

T.J. Galiardi ignited the rally at 14:44, and Mike Vernace's first goal of the season - and fifth in 120 career AHL games - tied it 4-4 at 16:16. Dupuis gave Lake Erie the lead two minutes later, and Chris Stewart completed a hat trick with an empty-netter with 28 seconds left.

Stewart added an assist for a four-point game, while Kyle Kumiskey chipped in with three helpers.

Matt D'Agostini scored twice to pace the Bulldogs (9-4-1-0), who lost for the second time in seven games. Yannick Weber and David Desharnais added singles in the loss.

Tyler Weiman stopped 17 shots to earn the win for Lake Erie.

Cedrick Desjardins made 39 saves for Hamilton.
